Residence Inn by Marriott celebrated its 40th anniversary in style, with the opening of its 700th and largest hotel in downtown Chicago on November 10.

The brand’s flagship hotel is nestled in the historic Roanoke Building at 11 S. LaSalle St. in Chicago’s upscale Loop neighborhood. The Chicago Landmark building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and recently underwent extensive renovation work.

The new Residence Inn Chicago Downtown/Loop will incorporate 380 studio, one- and two-bedroom suites, 7,500 square feet of meeting space, fitness and business centers, a lobby bar and lounge, and a new restaurant slated to open in March 2016. Owned by an affiliate of The Prime Group Inc., the property is conveniently located in the heart of Chicago’s financial district, in close proximity to a plethora of shopping, dining and leisure destinations.

“Steeped in history, but redesigned and reimagined to excite today’s traveler, this new hotel is the epitome of what extended stay and Residence Inn has to offer,” said Diane Mayer, vice president & global brand manager at Residence Inn. “Guests are able to navigate through a unique architectural experience while still receiving all the services and amenities that they expect to help them maximize their stay and get the most out of their trip.”
