JLL has added a new tenant to 1221 Brickell Ave., a Class A office building in Miami, by completing a 17,000-square-foot lease on behalf of Banco do Brasil Americas. The US division of the largest and oldest South American bank will use the new space as its corporate headquarters.

The leasing advisory team led by JLL’s Executive Vice President Gavin Macphail and Senior Associate Randy Carballo represented the tenant in the negotiations. Banco do Brasil Americas has leased the entire 22nd floor and is relocating from One Biscayne Tower in downtown Miami.

“We worked to negotiate a competitive deal on behalf of the banking institution to ensure the office space met its long-term business needs,” said Carballo in prepared remarks.

The 408,423-square-foot office building, known for its all-glass tiered sides, offers amenities such as technology-enhanced conference facility, reception area, full service bank, ATM, dry cleaner, a pre-school for working parents, as well as access to several eateries including Vapiano and Jimmy John’s.

Banco de Brasil was established in the U.S. in 2012 and has locations in South and Central Florida. It joins a roster of tenants such as law firm Lydecker Diaz, Regus, Banco Popular and Clyde & Co.

“Relocating our headquarters to 1221 Brickell Ave. was a strategic decision for us. This new location will allow us to bring our teams together to improve efficiency and maximize results in the years to come,” said Cassio Segura, president & CEO of Banco do Brasil Americas, in a prepared statement.

Located in Miami’s Brickell Financial District, 1221 Brickell recently changed hands in a $155 million transaction, Yardi Matrix data shows.
