Jacobs Moves into New Downtown Dallas HQ

Dallas—International engineering and design firm Jacobs Engineering Group has relocated part of its operations in the Dallas –Fort Worth Metroplex after calling Pasadena home for almost seven decades.

Jacobs stayed true to its plans to consolidate its presence in the Dallas area by expanding its existing office at the Harwood Center on Bryan Street. The company has relocated roughly 300 employees and plans to create an additional 100 jobs, which would bring the total number of employees in Dallas and Fort Worth to more than 700. Jacobs’ relocation is expected to bring around $4 million in capital investment to the State of Texas.

According to an official statement, Jacobs’s office located at 155 N. Lake Ave. in Pasadena will continue to remain in operation and employ more than 1,500 people in Southern California. By relocating its base in the Arts District of Dallas, the company will have access to a top talent pool while also benefiting from the city’s friendly economic and cultural environment. Jacobs will receive a Texas Enterprise Grant of $1.3 million as financial help to support the move.

“As we continue to focus on transforming our business in terms of efficiency and high-growth in the engineering and construction industry, our new headquarters location ensures access to top talent and positions Jacobs for convenient access to our clients,” Steve Demetriou, Jacobs chairman & CEO, said in prepared remarks.

The company has expanded its footprint at 1999 Bryan St. in downtown Dallas from nearly 85,000 square feet to approximately 100,000 square feet of Class A office space. The 724,000-square-foot structure is owned by Fortis Property Group and is currently leased to high-credit tenants including the U.S. Government, Omnicom Marketing Group and Fireman’s Fund Insurance. The 36-story skyscraper was constructed in 1982 and completely renovated in 2012, and features a multi-level parking garage totaling more than 1,000 spaces. As previously reported by the Dallas News, Fortis has constructed an adjacent parking facility to accommodate Jacobs’ growth here.

Founded in 1947, Jacobs’s footprint in Texas has grown to nearly 4,5200 people working in the oil and gas, power and energy, aerospace, transportation, aviation, defense and buildings industries. The company employs approximately 64,000 people in more than 30 countries around the world.
