Irish Property Recovery Driven by Industrial Performance

According to the MSCI/SCSI Ireland Quarterly Property Index, property returns in the country returned to positive territory in the third quarter of 2021.

On a rolling annual basis, the return of the index improved to 2.6 percent at the end of September.

Industrial was the top performing sector for the year to September 2021 with an annual return of 20.9 percent, its best result in five years.

Robust investor demand for industrial , evident in the equivalent yield compression, was complemented by an acceleration in market rental growth.

Office, the largest sector in the index by capital value, delivered an annual return of 2.9 percent.

This marked a sharp reversal of fortunes for the sector, since it was the leading property type in the decade following the Global Financial Crisis.
