March 25, 2016
Do Millennials really want to be untethered from their work stations?

- Architect on project:Â Perkins+Will (Lead Designer: Meena Krenek of Perkins+Will’s New York Office, Design Team: Perkins+Will’s Atlanta office)
- Type of project:Â Office
- Client:Â Confidential, Professional Consulting Firm
- Manufacturers used:Â Watson (walkstation), Calico (wall coverings), Humanscale (sit-stand desks)
- Amenities offered:Â A walkstation, 10 sit-stand desks, “living wall” that hosts writable/tackable surfaces for visual inspiration, “free address” working (where team members don’t have a dedicated desk)
- Why this project is notable:Â “The physical workplace plays a significant role and should be designed intentionally to reinforce agile cultures and to reinvigorate the work environment. The trick is to create a space that strikes the balance between technology-enabled communication and face-to-face dialogue; between “alone time” and social interaction. The Millennial workforce, in particular, wants a tangible sense of connectivity to their employer. This office proves that office environment plays a substantial role in delivering a better client experience.”
