Industry Movers: Promotions and Hirings

The CRE industry continues to grow and evolve, and Newcastle, SRS, Wilson and Aardex have all made some personnel changes of late.

Kent Swanson has joined Newcastle Ltd. as the firm’s CEO, effective this month. In this important new role at Newcastle, Swanson will be responsible for investor and lender relationships, overseeing the firm’s debt and equity capital and driving growth and expansion of Newcastle’s investment portfolio. Previously, Swanson was principal and CFO at The John Buck Co., a corporate real estate services and advisory company.

Kyle Stonis has been hired by SRS Real Estate Partners as a senior vice president in the Atlanta office. Stonis will focus on strengthening the investment sales platform for SRS in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast. He will represent clients on the acquisition and disposition of commercial investment properties while working with institutional buyers, international funds, equity funds, high net worth individuals and private-investment companies. Previously, Stonis worked for Bull Realty in Atlanta as a retail investment broker and senior vice president.

SRS has also hired two other senior vice presidents for its Chicago office: Tim Henry and Todd Gould. Henry comes to SRS Real Estate Partners as senior vice president and market leader for the Chicago office. With 26 years of experience, he specializes in retail, office and industrial markets. Prior to SRS, he was a founding principal with National Facilities Group. Gould has 21 years of commercial real estate experience, and he specializes in retail, office and land acquisitions/dispositions. On a national level, Gould has brokered deals for Darden Restaurants and was appointed the real estate director in seven states. He has completed more than 300 commercial transactions and has been responsible for marketing, leasing and negotiations with tenants consisting of a total of 3 million square feet of commercial space.

Wilson Commercial Real Estate has hired Ken Shishido as senior vice president. Shishido will continue working with retailers throughout Southern California and will expand the firm’s leasing presence in Orange County. With more than 28 years of retail real estate experience, Shishido previously served as a senior vice president in the retail group at Grubb & Ellis where he was responsible for representing national and regional retailers with their requirements. He has exclusively represented a number of expanding retailers in Southern California, including Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

Aardex L.L.C. has appointed Chris Ernst as its new CEO and owner. Ernst will focus on driving revenue growth in Aardex’s existing markets such as hospitality and healthcare, expanding the company’s property services division. Previously, Ernst was a senior vice president of business development with Aardex, having been hired by the firm in 2004.
