Hotel Chaco, New Boutique Development Owned by Heritage Hotels, Breaks Ground in Old Town Albuquerque
The first hotel to be built in Albuquerque’s Old Town in the past 40 years has just broken ground. Hotel Chaco, the multimillion project of the Heritage Hotels and Resorts, has begun to take shape at Bellamah and 20th NW, adjacent to the 11-story Hotel Albuquerque.

The first hotel to be built in Albuquerque’s Old Town in the past 40 years has just broken ground. Hotel Chaco, the multimillion project of the Heritage Hotels and Resorts, has begun to take shape at Bellamah and 20th NW, adjacent to the 11-story Hotel Albuquerque.
The new hotel represents Heritage Hotels’ 11th property in the state; each hotel is designed to awaken parts of New Mexico’s culture. Heritage Hotels and Resorts also owns Hotel Albuquerque and Eldorado Hotel and Spa, currently employing 1,600 people statewide.
Hotel Chaco will encompass 120,000 square feet on five stories and offer 118 guest rooms. A rooftop restaurant and lounge, as well as a main restaurant with seating for 150 are part of the architectural plan. Moreover, a spa of 6,000 square feet, a fitness room of 1,200 square feet, and about 3,000 square feet of street-level retail will complement the development. Hotel Chaco will share the existing pool at Hotel Albuquerque, as well as the ballroom and chapel. Construction costs for the boutique hotel are estimated at $25 million and the opening date is planned for mid-2016.
The new hotel will be built by general contractor Klinger Constructors from Albuquerque. Inspired by the historic Native American site Chaco Canyon in northwest New Mexico, the design is by Gensler’s Los Angeles office.
