The Glenview Park District recently inaugurated Glenview Prairie Club – Golf & Paddle. The 2,600-square-foot clubhouse facility is now open to the public as an amenity at the state-of-the-art four on-grade paddle tennis courts and the Glenview Park District nine-hole golf course.

The Glenview Park District board hired Mary Cook, president of Mary Cook Associates, to design the interiors of the clubhouse. The aim was to improve the overall golfing experience and to meet the growing demand for a golf and paddle tennis community gathering space.

“I was thrilled to work on this project for the Glenview Park District,” said Cook. “The Prairie Club’s Clubhouse is an important community gathering place for the residents. By starting with a clear understanding of the community’s needs, and basing the design on our seven fundamental principles, we created a space that really performs for the community. It’s comfortable and functional, and proves once again that creating great gathering spaces actually helps build and enhance ‘community.’”

The Glenview Prairie Club – Golf & Paddle is the first of its kind year-round facility in the Chicago-area. The club opened in 2001 as the “Glenview National 9 Golf Club” featuring a 9-hole golf course and in early 2013, with the grand opening of the new 2,600 square foot clubhouse and the addition of the four on-grade paddle tennis court complex adjacent to the 9-hole golf course, the district renamed the club “Glenview Prairie Club – Golf & Paddle.”

Currently the club offers a variety of golf and paddle tennis programs, events, lessons and league play for all ages. The club is also home to the Nike Golf NG360° Junior Athletic Golf Academy powered by Kinetic Performance Center, which helps build golf and overall athletic skills, game management and strategy for kids.
