Glass Wholesaler to Relocate Manufacturing Facility to 41K SF Renovated Space in Baton Rouge

Governor Bobby Jindal announced on Nov. 24, that ClearEdge Wholesale Glass is leaving New Orleans, but not the state of Louisiana. The glass wholesaler plans to relocate to Baton Rouge and expand its manufacturing operations.

ClearEdge Wholesale Glass’s current location, in New Orleans, has 14,000 square feet of space. The company said it will invest $2.65 million to renovate a 41,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Baton Rouge. It will allow ClearEdge to keep up with customer demand and conduct new fabrication techniques.

The project will create 120 new direct jobs. ClearEdge also said that it will retain the 20 New Orleans employees, who have all agreed to move to Baton Rouge. The average salary of a ClearEdge is $39,300, plus benefits. Louisiana Economic Development expects the project to result in 113 new indirect jobs. It will also generate 20 construction jobs.

LED started working with ClearEdge in June 2014. In order to secure the project, the state of Louisiana offered the company the LED FastStart workforce development program, the No. 1-ranked state workforce development program in the United States. ClearEdge will also use the Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.
