Germany’s First Rosewood Hotel to Open by 2023

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced it will open a 132-key hotel in Munich in 2023. The property, owned by Bayerische Hausbau, will be Rosewood’s first in Germany and seventh in Europe.

The Rosewood Munich will operate inside two historic structures located on Kardinal-Faulhaber-Strasse in the city center. The first building, the former State Bank of Bavaria headquarters, was constructed in the 19th century. The second, the Palais Neuhaus-Preysing, was built between 1723 and 1728 as an aristocratic residence. Both will be extensively renovated prior to opening, but the facades and stairways will be preserved.

Easy access to local landmarks

The hotel’s amenities will include two restaurants, a full-service spa, a fitness center and large event spaces. Many of the city’s tourist attractions, including the central Marienplatz Square and the Bavarian State Opera as well as downtown’s largest shopping districts are within a five-minute walk from the property. A number of tram and subway stations are located nearby, with Munich’s main train station less than one mile away, offering easy access to local, regional and international transportation options.

The objective of the project is to offer the city an entirely new hotel experience: a hotel in the most exclusive hotel segment that will provide a contemporary interpretation of the historical charm of the buildings,” said Hermann Brandstetter, CFO of Bayerische Hausbau, in prepared remarks.

Earlier this year, another Rosewood hotel was announced in Hong Kong, as part of a $2.6 billion mixed-use development.
