First Hilton Tri-Branded Hotel Opens in Chicago

The property includes Hilton Garden Inn Chicago McCormick Place, Hampton Inn by Hilton Chicago McCormick Place and Home2 Suites by Hilton Chicago McCormick Place.

First Hilton Tri-Branded Hotel

Hilton and First Hospitality Group have opened their first tri-branded hotel. Located in Chicago’s South Loop, the building is adjacent to Wintrust Arena and connected to McCormick Place, the largest convention center in the country. The property includes Hilton Garden Inn Chicago McCormick Place, Hampton Inn by Hilton Chicago McCormick Place and Home2 Suites by Hilton Chicago McCormick Place.

The developer was a joint venture of James McHugh Construction Co., UJAMAA Construction Inc. and Merritt Development Group. Atunovich Associates worked as the building’s architect, while Todd Halamka + Partners served as the hotels’ architect and Looney & Associates was the interior designer.

The multi-brand hotel is a newer concept within the hospitality sector, aiming to address the various needs of visitors in terms of pricing and amenities. Hilton, which last year introduced a number of new Garden Inn prototype hotels, has a footprint of more than 85 multi-brand properties worldwide.

A new concept

The 23-story hotel building totals 366 keys and is connected to McCormick Place via a skybridge. Amenities include an expanded exercise room, indoor pool, 24-hour business center and 10 meeting spaces totaling approximately 7,000 square feet. In addition, the property offers several dining options including a rooftop lounge, VU Skyward Bev & Eat, operated by Concentrics Restaurant, a street-level pub and grill operated by Big Onion Tavern Group and a Starbucks coffee shop. Free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi are also available.

Bringing together these three category-leading brands and their signature, yet distinct, offerings under one roof provides travelers with a wealth of shared amenities and the opportunity to enjoy the warmth and hospitality of Hilton through an innovative lodging option,” said Bill Duncan, global head of all suites and focused service category within Hilton, in prepared remarks.

The hotel’s location offers visitors convenient access to downtown Chicago, the Field Museum of Natural History and Shedd Aquarium. Other destinations such as Millennium Park, the Michigan Avenue shopping district and Navy Pier can be reached via the Green Line ‘L’ stop, which is two blocks from the hotel.
