Equinix Promotes Charles Meyers to CEO
The data center giant's new leader has worked at the company in three other leadership positions. Meyers has more than 25 years of experience in the technology industry.
Charles Meyers has been appointed president & CEO of Equinix. The board reached a decision after almost nine months in which Executive Chairman Peter Van Clamp served as interim CEO. Meyers will also join the board, while Van Clamp will resume his role as executive chairman.
Charles Meyers joined the data center and global interconnection giant in 2010, first serving as president for the Americas region. He was responsible for leading the company’s largest operating region. Meyers became chief operating officer at Equinix in 2013, leading the global sales, marketing, operations and customer success teams. In 2017, he became president of strategy, services and innovation, being responsible for product organization and leading several teams through a new phase of the company’s growth.
“Charles is an outstanding leader who has been a major contributor to Equinix’s success over the past eight years, playing critical roles in the company as we have quadrupled in size, growing from $1.2 billion in revenue to the $5 billion plus we expect to generate this year,” said Peter Van Camp in a prepared statement.
Prior to joining Equinix, Charles Meyers worked for several other IT companies in various leadership and executive positions. He has a career of more than 25 years in the technology industry and holds an MBA in marketing and strategy, as well as an M.S. in engineering management, both from Northwestern University.
