The total number of employed people from May 2016 to May 2017 increased by 1.2 percent or 1,813 people, while the total number of unemployed people decreased by 8.8 percent or 635 people. Year-over-year, the largest difference for employment was in the Installation, Maintenance and Repair occupations, with a rise of 3.6 percent. Following that, the next increases were for Construction and Extraction occupations at 3.4 percent and Natural Resources, Construction and Maintenance and Professional and Related occupations tying at a 3.3 percent increase. For unemployment, the most significant decrease was in the Farming, Fishing and Forestry occupations with 28.3 percent, followed by Production (-26.9%), Management, Professional and Related (-23.6%) and Production, Transportation and Material Moving (-18.2%). The overall unemployment rate dropped 8.9 percent year-over-year.
