Dillard’s will open a new, 220,000-square-foot store to replace its two existing locations at Macerich’s South Plains Mall in Lubbock, Texas. To take shape on the former Sear’s spot, the new shop will anchor the 1.1 million-square-foot property. With construction slated to begin straight away, the retail location is expected to open its doors in early 2024.

Located at 6002 Slide Road on a 79-acre site, South Plains Mall was built in 1972. The retail center features a total of 120 regional shopping, dining and entertainment options.

Tenants include specialty retailers such as JCPenney, H&M, Pandora, PINK and Hollister, but also restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory, Uncle Julio’s, Olive Garden and Chick-fil-A. Additionally, South Plains Mall is home to Premiere Cinemas and IMAX.

Dillard’s has been operating at the property since the shopping center opened, its South Plains Mall store being one of the 249 locations and 28 clearance centers across 29 states. As the retail property landscape transformed significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, the new store will address the latest consumer trends, offering enhancements in store design, merchandising and technology.
