C&W to Lease Iconic Miami Office Tower

The firm will handle leasing efforts for the building on behalf of the owner, Sumitomo Corporation of Americas.

MiamiCushman & Wakefield has been recently named the exclusive leasing agent for Miami Tower, an iconic 47-story, 631,672-square-foot office building located in the city’s central business district.

Gordon Messinger, managing director with Cushman & Wakefield will handle leasing efforts on behalf of the owner, Sumitomo Corp. of Americas (SCOA U.S.), a subsidiary of Japan-based Sumitomo Corp. SCOA U.S. acquired the trophy asset in May and has already announced plans to revamp the building’s Sky Lobby and common areas.

“Miami Tower is the most recognizable building in Miami’s skyline, and I look forward to helping Sumitomo bring the asset to its full potential,” said Messinger in a statement. “The asset offers tenants great amenities, exceptional 360-degree views of the city and Biscayne Bay, a premier location with the best access in the Miami CBD, landmark status and an infusion of energy on the part of new ownership.”

Designed by I.M. Pei and completed in 1987, the LEED certified building features 37 stories of Class A office space atop a 10-story, 1,500-space parking garage and ground-floor retail. Property amenities include two cafés, health and fitness club, dry cleaner, 24/7 security, card-key access and fiber-equipped office suites, and a new tenant lounge expected to open by the spring of 2017.

The high-rise tower boasts a $1.5 million exterior LED lighting system that has become a staple of the city’s skyline. Miami Tower has also been featured in numerous high profile television shows and movies, including Miami Vice and Casino Royale.

The office building is located at 100 SE. 2nd St. in Miami’s CBD, adjacent to Hyatt Regency Miami. The tower offers convenient access to Interstate 95, Miami International Airport, Miami Beach and to the surrounding luxury hotels, restaurants, shops and residential developments. It is the only building in the central business district that houses a dedicated Metromover station.

Notable tenants include TotalBank and UBS Financial, as well as national and regional law firms such as Carlton Fields, Boies Schiller & Flexner LLP and Wilson Elser LLP.

Transwestern currently manages Miami Tower, and Sumitomo announced that CBRE will assume retail leasing responsibilities.
