Hartford, Conn.—Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, one of the largest global real estate investment managers, has promoted Mike Zammitti to CIO of U.S. Equity Investments, effective March 1. He succeeded Drew Williams, who retired at the end of February after 22 years with the company.

“Mike has shown exceptional commitment to the company and we are confident in his ability to expand Cornerstone’s U.S. commercial real estate portfolios. I would also like to thank Drew for his dedication and two decades of service to Cornerstone,” commented Scott Brown, Global President & CEO of Cornerstone.

Brown added that Zammitti had been co-leading the U.S. Equity Investment team as deputy CIO of U.S. Equity with Williams since June 2015. In his new role, Zammittii will oversee Cornerstone’s direct equity investments in U.S. commercial real estate, and manage acquisitions, asset management and dispositions related to a diversified national portfolio of commercial properties. Since 1994, Cornerstone has managed discretionary and non-discretionary private real estate equity funds and separate accounts and the company currently services a portfolio with private equity gross assets under management of $12.1 billion in North America.

A firm veteran, Zammitti joined Cornerstone in 1996 as a vice president of asset management before joining the acquisitions team the next year. In 2007, he was promoted to managing director of Equity, and oversaw asset management, acquisitions and development for the Eastern Region of the U.S. Prior to Cornerstone, Zammitti was an investment officer with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. in the real estate division. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers College.
