Cornell University Signs Lease in Midtown Manhattan
The university is taking over three full floors at 45 W. 57th St.

New York—Cornell University has signed a lease to occupy the second, fourth and fifth floors of the office building at 45 W. 57th St., in Midtown Manhattan, property owner Sedesco Inc. announced.
The university has signed a long-term deal to use the space primarily for alumni and student events. The buildout of the property’s second floor is also currently underway, and will be occupied by Cornell starting August 2016.
“We see a strong presence in New York City as essential for enhancing our relationships with our alumni, corporate partners and other key stakeholders,” Cornell College of Business Dean Soumitra Dutta said in a statement. “The space on West 57th will also provide an excellent platform venue for our faculty and students to take advantage of the unique resources of New York City.”
The new space is meant to serve as a bridge between Manhattan and the university’s Roosevelt Island Campus, scheduled for completion in the fall of 2017.
JRM Construction is handling the buildout for Cornell, with the rest of its space in the building expected to become operational by October. The university’s graduate school of management, college of business, school of hotel administration and school of applied economics and management will use the space, according to Crain’s New York.
