DallasCity Gate Property Group has appointed a new chief financial officer. David Van Etten brings 30 years of experience in financial operations, reporting and management for all commercial real estate product types, including multifamily, office, retail, industrial and hospitality.

Prior to City Gate, Van Etten served three years as Controller for Encore Enterprises, managing accounting and financial reporting for multifamily and commercial real estate assets. While at Encore, Dave oversaw both operational reporting as well as development accounting, as Encore Multi-Family developed numerous new apartment communities in Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.

Van Etten spent more than four years as corporate controller & CFO of Trinity Interests Inc., a third-party commercial property management firm. He was responsible for all financial reporting and accounting of the company’s 5 million-square-foot Texas portfolio, which is owned by a diverse group of international clients consisting of both institutional owners and high net-worth investors.

Previously, Van Etten served 22 years with the Ray Hunt group of companies, including 9 years as controller with Woodbine Development and later 12 years with Hunt Realty Corp. as CFO/SVP. He managed the accounting and financial reporting of $2 billion in real estate developments and operating company investments.

Van Etten has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Niagara University. He is a CPA and a licensed real estate broker in Texas, and has been active in the Real Estate Financial Executives Association as a Past President and Board member and the Real Estate Council in Dallas.
