CDI Establishes Manufacturing Center in SC

Rock Hill, S.C.—Crystal Distribution Inc. (CDI) has announced its plans to establish new operations in the Charlotte metro area with a 50,000-square-foot plant in Rock Hill’s SouthCross Corp. Center. Beacon Partners and its contractors are in charge of planning, designing and project management of the new CDI plant. The company will develop a build-to-suit light manufacturing and distribution facility. Construction of the new plant is projected to be completed during the first quarter of 2017. CDI will also add new jobs to create a total of 83 positions. Hiring is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2017.

Totaling nearly 125,000 square feet, SouthCross is a 40-acre, mixed-use development, directly off I-77 at Exit 82. The center is 10 miles from Charlotte, N.C., and less than 25 miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The CDI project is expected to bring $4.8 million in new capital investment and allow the company to relocate existing positions from its operations in Charlotte. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a set-aside grant of $300,000 to York County to assist with the costs of site preparation and building construction as an incentive.

“From the start, S.C., York County and the City of Rock Hill all welcomed us and worked hard to make this project a reality. Our employees are counting down the days until they move into the new facility, which will increase our manufacturing space by 40 percent and allow us to better serve our customers in the eastern U.S. and Canada,” said John Gerold, CDI’s CFO, in a prepared statement.

Established in 1994, CDI is a leader in the curb adapter industry. Curb adapters allow broken or inefficient heating and cooling units to be upgraded on commercial building rooftops. Currently, CDI has four plants strategically located across the U.S. in Charlotte, Minneapolis, Dallas and Seattle.
