CIM Group is expanding the creative office space at Penn Field campus, a mixed-use facility at 3601 S. Congress Ave., in Austin, Texas. The new, 44,000-square-foot, two-story building is slated for completion in early 2020.

Dubbed Building L, the creative office space is the first new building and the 11th in the 183,855-square-foot campus. The building will be close to the Congress Avenue entrance and is designed to accommodate a single user or two single-floor tenants of about 21,000 square feet each. The development is set to feature high ceilings, outdoor patios and terraces and large floorplates for flexibility of configuration. In addition, a double height lobby accessed from a shaded entry court and floor-to-ceiling windows will allow natural light to infuse the building.

The exterior design follows the historic warehouse and industrial character of Penn Field, a 16-acre property originally developed in 1918 as an air base for the U.S. Army. The industrial buildings of post-World War I design have been converted over time into today’s creative campus that combines office, restaurant and warehouse space.

Penn Field is easily accessible via Interstate 35, highways 71 and 290, as well as the recently expanded Bergstrom International Airport. The revamped terminal added nine gates, with airport officials intending to build 32 gates by 2040.
