Barry Slatt Mortgage has appointed Thomas Cohen as senior vice president in the firm’s San Diego office. Cohen specializes in the placement of debt and the procurement of equity for commercial real estate projects nationwide. He also specializes in structuring debt for complex transactions involving project-based, Section 8 HAP contracts, tax-exempt bonds, historic tax credits, low-income housing tax credits and TIF projects.

20-year track record

Cohen brings more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage banking industry, most recently as founding partner of JC CAP LLC. He also served as senior director of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corp., as principal of Johnson Capital and vice president in GMACCM/Capmark’s Kansas City office. His expertise spans many property types, including multifamily, retail, office, industrial, hospitality and new construction.

Cohen holds a B.A. from Tufts University in Boston and a J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law.
