AutoNation has renewed its corporate headquarters’ lease with Stiles Corp. at the AutoNation Building, a Class A office tower encompassing 204,337 square feet in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The automotive retailer will continue to occupy 105,000 square feet for the next 12 years, with an option to extend the lease by eight years.

Located at 200 S.W. 1st Ave., the 17-story property was constructed in 2007 and is LEED Gold certified. The AutoNation Building features 186,804 square feet of office and 17,533 square feet of ground-floor retail space as well as a six-story, attached parking garage.

Thriving region

AutoNation credited the lease renewal to the fast-growing area and the amenities that appeal to a talented labor pool: transit, a major airport and seaport, residential and retail development. The company employs more than 3,500 associates and owns 23 stores and 10 collision centers across South Florida.

“We see our commitment as a huge ‘win-win’ for all of Fort Lauderdale—AutoNation’s Headquarters is in the heart of the redevelopment of the Riverwalk area, which has been thoughtfully planned to build Fort Lauderdale into a model city of the future where even more residents can live, work and play,” said AutoNation Chairman, CEO & President Mike Jackson, in prepared remarks.

“The AutoNation Building is the last office project to be developed in the Las Olas corridor and represents an era of growth and great vitality for our city and the companies that have helped to shape its progress,” added Doug Eagon, vice chairman of Stiles.
