Economy Watch: Jobs, ISM Non-Manufacturing Index, Bankruptcy Numbers
U.S. private-sector employment increased by 230,000 jobs in October. Economic activity in the American non-manufacturing sector grew in October for the 57th consecutive month. Bankruptcy cases filed in federal courts for the fiscal year 2014 dropped 13 percent from last fiscal year.
Economy Watch: Home Price Appreciation, Trade Deficit, Oil & Gas Prices
Home prices nationwide increased 5.6 percent in September compared to the same month last year. Total September exports resulted in a goods and services deficit of $43 billion, up from $40 billion in August. The price of oil dropped briefly to its lowest level in four years.

Construction spending during September 2014 dropped 0.4 percent compared with August. Only a “modest fraction” of banks eased their standards for commercial and industrial loans to firms of all sizes.

The third-quarter real gross domestic product increased at an annualized rate of 3.5 percent for the quarter, above expectation. Oil prices have continued to slide. During the week ending Oct. 25, initial unemployment claims increased by 3,000 week over week.
