Indian Pueblos Marketing Inc. has recently announced plans to develop a shopping center on the former Albuquerque Indian School, near 12th Street and Indian School Road. Currently negotiating with a natural foods grocery store and two large restaurants to anchor the future retail development, IPM hopes to break ground on an ABQ Uptown-like retail center in 2013.

Ashley Oaks Apartments Changes Hands in $30.8M Deal

Steadfast Income REIT, Inc. made its third acquisition in Texas on Nov. 29, with the purchase of Ashley Oaks in North Central San Antonio. The 462-unit garden-style apartment community was sold for $30.8 million. Built in three phases, in 1985 and 1995, the multifamily property is currently 93 percent occupied.

TDI to Build $50M Apartment Project in Las Colinas

Irving-based TDI announced plans to build a $50 million apartment complex in Las Colinas. Construction on the 386-unit building, known as Aston at Las Colinas, is expected to begin in March 2013, the company announced in a news release. he developer recently purchased 6.7 acres of land at Northwest Highway and Las Colinas Boulevard, which will serve as the construction site for the six-story residential tower.

Austin Apartment Community Changes Hands in $35M Deal

The Dayton-based Connor Group recently purchased 290-unit River Oaks—a 40-acre gated apartment community located at 6607 Brodie Ln.—for $34.6 million. Built in 1997, the property includes amenities like a pool, spa, volleyball court and basketball court. The multifamily deal marks the second acquisition in Austin by the real estate investment firm.

Alamo Colleges opens work training building at Port San Antonio

Alamo Colleges has opened a new Workforce Center of Excellence in South San Antonio, through an agreement with Port San Antonio. According to the agreement, Port San Antonio donated the building and almost 30 acres of land, next to the port’s East Kelly Railport to the Alamo Colleges, reported the San Antonio Express-News.

The Van Tuyl Group is planning to develop a $16 million Arrowhead Cadillac dealership in Glendale. The 55,000-square-foot showroom and service center would be located on an eight-acre tract near 83rd Avenue and Bell Road.

A joint venture of Trademark Property Co., Coventry Real Estate Advisors, Southern Land Co. and PCCP have recapitalized Watters Creek, a 706,000-square-foot mixed-use project in Allen. The joint venture acquired the note from a multibank syndicate led by PNC Bank.

New Federal Courthouse Opens in Austin; $304M Apple Campus Underway

Austin’s federal courthouse has found a new home in an eight-story, 252,420-square-foot building of stone and glass. Located in the downtown area, the $123 million project opened three years and three months since breaking ground in 2009. Sitting on the site of the old Shell building, the new facility features eight courtrooms and chambers for 10 judges, compared to the four courtrooms and four chambers at the old Eighth Street location.
