The Banks Development Team Announces Start Date for Construction on Phase IIA

The Banks will be Cincinnati’s largest single, mixed-use development with residential, office, hotel and retail components. In a recent release, the Banks’ master development team of Carter and The Dawson Company announced work will soon start on Phase IIA of the project.

In a July news story, CBS MonyWatch ranked apartment rents in the Washington, D.C. area as the fourth highest in the nation, behind San Francisco, New York and Boston but ahead of Los Angeles or Miami. And Marcus&Millichap reports that rents will continue to grow throughout the year. Bad news for renters but great news for developers such as the JBG Companies. The Chevy Chase-based private real estate development firm plans to bring 212 high-end units to Northwest Washington D.C.’s desirable Woodley Park neighborhood in March 2014.

Columbia’s Rivers Business Commons Sold To Fernau LeBlanc Investment Partners

Cushman & Wakefield of Maryland, Inc. has recently sold Columbia’s Rivers Business Commons on behalf of Greenfield Partners. The price of the transaction was not disclosed. Fernau LeBlanc Investment Partners, a Washington, D.C.-based real estate owner and operator, was the buyer.

Continuing its plans to grow and expand, Memorial Hospital of Union County has recently announced it will open a new medical office building in Marysville. The expansion will help provide patients with an even better experience. When fully operational, the facility is expected to serve 50,000 patients per year.

Forest City Enterprises, Inc. finalized last week the sale of the 14-story Higbee Building, one of Cleveland’s most renowned historic places. Rock Ohio Caesars LLC is the property’s new owner. It opened the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland there last year.

Regency Centers Corporation has acquired the Shoppes of Burnt Mills. The Silver Spring shopping center traded for $13.6 million. Regency purchased the property from its developer, Bethesda-based Finmarc Management Inc., together with an undisclosed co-investment partner.

Work Starts on John Marshall High, One of Three New Schools Planned for Cleveland

July 18 marked the official start of construction of the new John Marshall High School at 3952 W. 140th Street. Mayor Frank Jackson, Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Eric Gordon, JMHS Alumni President Ken Tischler, and Cleveland City Council President Martin J. Sweeney were among those present at the groundbreaking ceremony.
