Atlanta Lands TeamStaff, RockTenn HQs

TeamStaff Inc., provider of logistics, health-care and technical services primarily to the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, has relocated from Somerset, N.J., to Atlanta. The 1776 Peachtree Building, owned by Denholtz Associates, now serves as headquarters for TeamStaff. The newly-renovated 216,811-square-foot building is located near the Buckhead and Midtown submarkets.

 RockTenn Co. had previously released plans of expanding its presence in metropolitan Atlanta, but it has shifted its attention from the Central Perimeter district—to Gwinnett County. The paperboard and packaging maker plan will stay in its Norcross headquarters and lease an additional 68,666 square feet at the Hampton Green business park in Duluth. Hampton Green’s owner, Duke Realty Corp., will move its regional offices from the 125,280 square foot building to Sugarloaf Office II on Premiere Parkway, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.

RockTenn’s move followed its recent acquisition of Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., which had kept dual corporate headquarters in Chicago and St. Louis. In a statement Friday, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said that RockTenn plans to spend $5 million on the expansion. The company will also add 500 jobs in accounting, finance, information technology, procurement and supply chain functions. The Hampton Green facility will house new hires as well as workers that will be transferred from the company’s Norcross headquarters.

RockTenn has received more than $700,000 in property tax incentives from Norcross, Gwinnett County and county public schools, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The company’s pay scales will make it eligible for another $12.5 million in tax credits.
