8 MSF Campus Breaks Ground in Greensboro
The project marks one of the largest aerospace investments in North Carolina.
Aerospace company JetZero has started construction on an aircraft manufacturing and final assembly campus in Greensboro, N.C. The project, expected to generate $4.7 billion over the next 10 years, represents one of the largest manufacturing investments in the state’s aerospace industry.

Plans call for a main production facility totaling 8 million square feet across 600 acres of Piedmont Triad International Airport property. The airport campus is also home to Honda Aircraft, Haeco Americas and Cessna, among others, and includes a FedEx hub.
JetZero’s factory will produce the Z4 aircraft. The digitally driven facility is expected to feature advanced modeling automation and AI technologies. The firm is working with Deloitte and Siemens to develop a digital twin of the upcoming plant, enabling engineers to test workflows, equipment layouts and production processes before construction reaches completion.

JetZero executives expect the North Carolina production factory to become a future benchmark for aerospace manufacturing. The first full-scale prototype produced there is scheduled for first flight in 2027 and the company expects to deliver the first commercial aircraft at the facility in the early 2030s.
The project will generate some 14,500 new jobs, marking the largest job creation announcement in North Carolina’s history. Employees will benefit from a customized workforce training program created by the state’s community college system led by Guilford Technical Community College. Valued at more than $22 million, the program will help prepare workers for positions with average annual wages exceeding $89,000.
Piedmont Triad’s industrial scene
JetZero first announced plans for the new factory in June 2025. At the time, the company also unveiled the intention to move its headquarters from Long Beach, Calif., to the new production hub, once it becomes operational.
The firm’s upcoming facility adds to Piedmont Triad’s growing momentum, as the area is consolidating as a strong manufacturing, tech and logistics hub. The Greensboro–Winston-Salem industrial market’s key drivers include a skilled workforce, lower operating costs and growing aerospace cluster, supporting the ongoing development in the region.
Greensboro–Winston-Salem’s industrial pipeline currently includes 1.5 million square feet, according to Yardi Matrix data. The largest project underway is the 1 million-square-foot, $860 million automated distribution center developed for Ahold Delhaize USA. Construction started in February, with full completion expected in 2029.
Elsewhere in the state, biopharmaceutical company AbbVie announced plans to build a 185-acre manufacturing campus in Durham, N.C. Delivery is slated for 2028.
