Flex office provider Carr Workplaces has relocated its Embarcadero coworking location from Four Embarcadero to One Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, Calif. The flex office will be on the 832,030-square-foot property’s 12th floor, in Suite 1200.

Amenities will include private offices, meeting rooms, private phone rooms, a coworking area with 18 desks and a wellness room. Additionally, the location is equipped with a staffed reception and concierge services.

Earlier this year, Carr Workplaces reopened its Manhattan coworking location at 745 Fifth Ave. That office space features 68 private offices, as well as direct access to Central Park.

Embarcadero Center is a master-planned mixed-use development spanning four blocks in downtown San Francisco. One Embarcadero Center is one of the four buildings within the campus, all under BXP Inc.’s ownership and management. The company acquired the four assets in two phases between 1998 and 1999 for a total sale price of $1.2 billion.

The 45-story One Embarcadero

Completed in 1970 after the designs of the John Portman & Associates architecture firm, One Embarcadero Center rises 45 stories and is the second tallest building in the complex, after Four Embarcadero Center. The tower features 20,305-square-foot average floorplates, as well as 80,449 square feet of retail space. Its tenant roster includes Nixon Peabody, Golden Gate Capital, Sideman & Bancroft, Zuckerman & McQuiller and Lombard Investments.

Two other coworking giants have locations within the complex: WeWork operates a 118,503-square-foot, five-story flex office space at Two Embarcadero Center, while Industrious occupies 11,000 square feet at Three Embarcadero, according to CommercialEdge information.

In an interview with Commercial Property Executive, Yardi Director of coworking Will Sandford emphasized the need for standardization in the sector, as well as treating it as a unified industry rather than a patchwork of local offerings. Technology plays a pivotal role in that process, enhancing user experience, streamlining booking systems and enabling better space aggregation.
