Total Return Performance Momentum

In 2016, the momentum we observed across national markets was mostly negative as the rate of capital growth slowed in most countries. In 2017, the picture is very different with most markets reporting higher total returns compared to the prior year. The positive momentum has been most pronounced in European markets like the UK, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Germany. Sweden, Ireland and New Zealand have been the markets where 2017 total return performance was most down on the prior year.
