Howard Hughes Adds Retail to Downtown Columbia Mid-Rise

One Merriweather in Columbia, Md.

The Howard Hughes Corp. announced that One Merriweather, a 200,000-square-foot office building in Columbia, Md., is adding retail this winter with the addition of Cured and Eighteenth & Twenty First. Both establishments, which will be located on the ground floor of the mid-rise, are the creation of local restaurateur Steve Wecker of Wecker Hospitality Group.

Cured, a 4,000-square-foot restaurant offering 125 seats, will combine culinary traditions of the Mid-Atlantic region with modern touches. Eighteenth & Twenty First, a 1,900-square-foot cocktail bar, will offer a 38-seat dining room as well as a bar and lounge with live music.

Located at 10980 Grantchester Way, One Merriweather was completed this year and houses the headquarters of MedStar Health, the largest health care provider in Maryland and the D.C. region. According to Yardi Matrix data, the nine-story building owned by The Howard Hughes Corp. has 27,499-square-foot floor plates and includes 1,200 parking spots in a multi-level parking structure shared with Two Merriweather. Located at the intersection of Broken Land and Little Patuxent parkways, the property is located within a 30-minute drive of Downtown Baltimore.
