ViaWest Group has broken ground on an industrial facility in Goodyear, Ariz., that will be used by American appliance company Sub-Zero.

Along with Scottsdale Investment Management, ViaWest has started construction on the 599,351-square-foot build-to-suit project, which marks the third facility the company operates in the West Valley. The developers tapped building partners Willmeng Construction, DLR Group and Kimley-Horn to complete the project.

The Sub-Zero warehouse and distribution center will be built with 32-foot clear heights, 410-foot building depth, 38 dock doors, three drive-ins and 50-foot by 50-foot column spacing. According to ViaWest, the property will offer more than one million square feet of manufacturing space when fully built out.

The Sub-Zero facility will sit on a more than 36-acre site located at the southwest corner of Camelback Road and Cotton Lane, along Arizona’s Loop 303 freeway. For Sub-Zero, this project represents the third facility for the company in the West Valley region of the Phoenix metro. While Sub-Zero is based in Madison, Wis., the appliance company has locations at 3865 W Van Buren St. and 4295 N Cotton Lane, also in Goodyear, Ariz.

Building facilities along the I-10 corridor

Being based in Phoenix, ViaWest has several other projects in the state, especially in the West Valley region where the Sub-Zero facility will be located. The firm has two other industrial developments along the I-10 corridor that are currently underway, where Willmeng is also serving as the general contractor. The projects include the Converge Logistics Center and Sight Logistics Park, both of which are due to deliver in 2023. Further along the I-10, ViaWest acquired a nine-building, industrial/office flex property totaling more than 550,00 square feet through a joint venture with InvestCorp in 2018.

Nearby in Glendale, ViaWest recently acquired an 82-acre site that will be used for a 15-building industrial park totaling nearly 2 million square feet. The firm is also working with Nicola Wealth Real Estate to build a 335,066-square-foot industrial campus, further west in Mesa, Ariz.
