Capitalizing on China’s growing ski culture, Melco China Resorts, an associate of Melco International Development Ltd., has announced the launch of China’s first ski and leisure resort, the redevelopment of other ski areas and the groundbreaking of a luxury mountain home project. The company recently topped out two hotels in the Yabuli Sun Mountain resort, which is the core focus of MCR’s immediate development plan. The resort will include three premium hotels in total, including a luxury 24-suite boutique mountaintop hotel. In its second major purchase in the Galleria submarket of Houston since October, San Francisco-based Shorenstein Properties L.L.C. acquired the Class A office tower 5 Post Oak Park for an undisclosed amount. The seller was a partnership between GE Asset Management Inc. and Fort Worth-based Crescent Real Estate Equities L.P. The seller was represented by the Houston office of Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP. Beset by a slowing economy and continued fallout from the subprime mortgage crisis, commercial real estate will likely face challenges as demand slows in 2008. Yet factors such as a restrained construction pipeline are likely to prevent a more severe slowdown, according to a report issued Tuesday by ING Clarion on the state of commercial real estate investment. AMB Expands Presence in Port of Hamburg
AMB Property Corp. has acquired an industrial complex near the Port of Hamburg, Germany, totaling more than 930,000 square feet of existing buildings and 16 acres of land.Kuehne + Nagel, a Swiss logistics company and AMB customer in other parts of the world, has leased about 402,000 square feet of the park in connection with this purchase.According to San Francisco-based AMB, it intends to build out the site through a phased development plan. IRSA Inversiones y Representaciones S.A. has acquired the Edificio Republica building in Downtown Buenos Aires, Argentina, for $70.3 million, adding 214,000 square feet to its portfolio.
