Tishman Develops Class A Project in Bulgaria; Candy Crush Saga Developer Relocates, Expands in Romania

Tishman International has completed the country’s first LEED Gold certified commercial real estate asset, paving the way for more sustainable development in the country. Meanwhile, the developer of gaming phenomenon Candy Crush has signed a new lease in a major Romanian office property, and plans to greatly expand its operations in the area.

Tishman’s A2 office building is a 194,000-square-foot Class A project, part of the company’s high-profile Sofia Airport Center in the capital city of Bulgaria. The building is part of Tishman’s 2.1-million-square- foot development project. The A2 building received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The project is now only the third building to be awarded the distinction from the internationally recognized green building rating system. The certification comes after the asset’s overall performance was reviewed. Energy and water efficiency were a large part of the evaluation, as well as the materials used in the construction process, waste removal at the site and how the project fits in with its environment.

Meanwhile, in Bucharest, Romania, mobile games developer King announced that it will expand its current operations in the city. The company responsible for hit game Candy Crush Saga has leased 18,000 square feet of space in the Opera Center office property. The location will now house the company’s creative team who will relocate from their current Unirii Factory space, where it occupied two floors. The company will expand to a staff of 110 employees by the end of the year, marking the success of King’s flagship gaming property.
