The Weitz Co., a national full-service construction firm, recently announced its selection to build the Hacienda at The River project for The Freshwater Group, Watermark Retirement Communities Inc.’s acquisition, finance, design and development arm.

The Hacienda at The River is a senior living community intended to serve mature individuals seeking assisted-living, memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitative and hospice care. The project is to be built on a 6.5-acre site in the Catalina Foothills and includes a 70,000-square foot, two-story health-care center for short-term, long-term and hospice care as well as a village of 41,000 square feet with 62 single story homes.

The residences will offer assisted living and memory care, according to an announcement released by the contractor. Residents will have the possibility to participate in on-site equine and horticultural therapy programs, aquatic therapy, massage, guided meditation and yoga. Patio cafes, a ranch-style family restaurant, and a formal dining room will be available to residents as well as visitors and guests. Brendan Morrow, director of The Weitz‘s Senior Living branch said the firm’s specialized team is “extremely excited to be working with companies as well respected and nationally well known as Watermark Retirement Communities and The Freshwater Group, on a project that will help so many individuals.” Full site development is slated to begin in December.
