Antioch College’s North Hall Becomes One of Oldest LEED Gold Buildings Worldwide

North Hall, one of Antioch College’s three original buildings, has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council(USGBC). Antioch College President Mark Roosevelt made the announcement on Monday, July 29.

Troubled Apartment Building in Evanston Makes Way for New Homes

A century old building in Evanston was demolished on Wednesday, July 17, to make way for new development and help revitalize the Cincinnati neighborhood. Hundreds of people were present at the event and cheered as machines belonging to the O’Rourke Wrecking Company brought down the mammoth building. Anzora Adkins, President of the Evanston Community Council, Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney Jr. and Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls were among them.

Hyatt Regency Cincinnati Completes $23M Renovation; $8.4M Holiday Inn Planned by Casino

The Hyatt Regency Cincinnati announced last week the completion of renovations to its lobby and existing 486 guest rooms. At a cost of $23 million, the project also called for the addition of five new rooms, to bring the hotel’s total to 491 guest rooms.

Hackman Capital JV Acquires 16 Cleveland-Area Buildings as Part of 28-Asset Ohio Industrial Portfolio

A joint venture led by Hackman Capital Partners LLC, a privately held, asset-based investment firm headquartered in Los Angeles, has recently purchased 28 industrial buildings and two land parcels located in the state of Ohio. The transaction of the industrial real estate portfolio totaling 2,593,602 square feet closed on Friday, June 14. Hackman Capital Partners did not disclose the purchase price.

Cincinnati Streetcar Gets $17.4M in Additional Funding

The Cincinnati Streetcar project is back on track. Last Wednesday, City Council voted to give it a $17.4 million infusion of cash, bringing the total cost of the project to $133 million, from the original $110 million.

Joint Venture to Open Ohio Racino in December

The state of Ohio will get a new racino by the end of the year. Miami Valley Gaming & Racing, a joint venture of Delaware North Companies Gaming & Entertainment, headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y., and Louisville, Ky.-based Churchill Downs Incorporated, will open a new harness racing and gaming facility near exit 29 off of Interstate 75, between Cincinnati and Dayton, in December.

Balluff Breaks Ground on $6M Expansion Project in Independence, Adding 24 Jobs

Balluff Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Balluff GmbH, based in Neuhausen, Germany, started construction last week on a $6 million expansion of its U.S. headquarters in Northern Kentucky. PECo to Buy Dayton Facility, Bring 250 Jobs to the City

The Process Equipment Company (“PECo”) has announced on April 1 its plans to purchase a 425,000 square foot manufacturing facility at 2333 McCall Street, near downtown Dayton. The acquisition is part of the Tipp City-based company’s plan to consolidate and expand its local operations.
