Sonnenblick-Eichner Secures $276M for LA Chargers HQ

Sonnenblick-Eichner Co. has secured $276 million in construction and permanent financing for the Los Angeles Chargers’ new corporate headquarters and training facility in El Segundo, Calif.

A joint venture comprising Continental Development Corp. and Mar Ventures will develop the property. CTL Capital, which specializes in credit tenant lease financing, provided the loan.

According to Continental’s website, the project will be located on Nash Street and will be delivered by the spring of 2024.

The performance center will comprise office space for players, coaches and staff, as well as three natural grass fields on a 15-acre site. El Segundo is in the southwestern area of the L.A. metro, just south of Los Angeles International Airport. The property will be 7 miles from SoFi Stadium, the Chargers’ home field.

According to the team’s website, the project will be designed by Gensler Sports. Amenities will include a rooftop hospitality club, full eSports gaming and content studios, and a 3,100-square-foot media center. More than 340 parking spaces are also planned for the development, the website says.

According to the March 2022 National Office Report by CommercialEdge, Los Angeles was the top market for  year-over-year growth in office listing rates, recording an 8.1 percent increase compared to February 2021.
