Skiles Group, Covenant Health Break Ground on TX Hospital

Skiles Group and Covenant Health broke ground on an 115,000-square-foot, short-stay surgical hospital in Lubbock, Texas. The three-story, 32-bed medical facility will sit on 25 acres at the corner of 82nd and Marsha Sharp Freeway and is expected to be completed by December 2020.

The nearby area is mostly residential, but it also hosts a Holiday Inn Express & Suites and several retailers, including two fast-food restaurants. The developer plans to take the project beyond a simple hospital. Skiles’ Senior Vice President Michael Blakemore announced it will build a campus which will focus on elements such as abundant natural light, green space views as well as the optimization of privacy and acoustic within patient areas. Fifty physicians and 250 caregivers will be working on rotation at the upcoming hospital.
