Scott’s Addition Adds More Apartments

What do you do if you own a property in Scott’s Addition? If it’s not an apartment building, you turn it into one.

At least this is what this Baltimore-based company is doing. Sieck Floral Group is the latest in a long line of developers looking to revitalize Scott’s Addition’s dormant properties and turn the neighborhood into a vibrant community. According to the Richmond BizSense, the company is doing its part by renovating the former wholesale distribution warehouse at 3210 W. Leigh St. and turning the structure into apartments.

The $3.5 million project broke ground earlier this year in April. Osprey Lofts—the renovated property’s new name—will include 30 one- and two-bedroom units ranging in size between 700 and 1,050 square feet. Residents will be able to enjoy such amenities as a rooftop pool and a fitness center.

Sieck Floral purchased the 24,000-square-foot property in 2000 for $625,000. The company had the site rezoned for apartments last year and hired Thalhimer Realty Partners, the development arm of local real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, to lead construction. Osprey Lofts is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Pre-leasing is scheduled to start sometime next month.
