Divaris Real Estate’s Richmond office has signed four new tenants at the Brandy Creek Commons shopping center in Mechanicsville, Va. In February, the Morgan Cos. acquired the 18-acre site from United Dominion Realty Trust for $3.5 million. Publix will occupy approximately 50,000 square feet at the shopping center, which has an estimated development cost of $15 million.

After representing Morgan Cos. in the land acquisition, Zachary Means, vice president at Divaris Real Estate’s Richmond office, was retained to handle leasing of the remaining 13,000 square feet of vacant space. Together with Vice President Lawrence Agnew, they completed four new leases, totaling 12,400 square feet. Virginia ABC leased 3,600 square feet, Petvalu signed on for 3,500 square feet, MOD Pizza for 2,800 square feet, while Five Guys committed to 2,500 square feet. The shopping center is currently 92 percent pre-leased, and is slated for completion in the fall of 2018.

Situated at the corner of Mechanicsville Turnpike and Brandy Creek Drive, the shopping center will get plenty of exposure. The area features a large retail corridor extending to Interstate 295 and leading to downtown Richmond, which is situated approximately 15 minutes away. Brandy Creek Commons is the latest among multiple retail properties in Virginia, which are now part of Divaris Real Estate’s leasing and management portfolio.
