Freedom Solar, an Austin, Texas-based solar power provider has relocated headquarters into a bigger space and also hired 30 new employees. Since 2014 the company partnered with SunPower.

The headquarter relocation follows the opening of satellite offices in Houston and Arlington, Texas. The company also has solar design centers in Austin’s Bee Cave and in San Antonio.

The new 20,000-square-foot headquarters, located at 4801 Freidrich Lane, is 8,000 square feet larger than the previous space. The warehouse part encompasses about 12,000 square feet where some 2,000 solar panels will be accommodated as configured for Freedom’s needs. Stacked end-to-end, three pallets high and filling every inch of floor space, the warehouse could store more than 13,000 panels. Amenities at the new location include an archery range and a Tesla charging station.

The federal investment tax credit has been one of the main drivers of the sustained demand in the solar market. ITC deducts 30 percent of the cost of installing new solar energy systems from the beneficiary’s 2019 federal taxes, which means an average of $5,000 in savings on a solar installation for homeowners and around $30,000 in savings for a business that installs a $100,000 solar array. Another attractive feature of the ITC is that it applies to both residential and commercial systems and has no cap on its value. However, the tax credit will drop to 26 percent in 2020, 22 percent in 2021 and 10 percent in 2022 and beyond.
