With the purchase of three land parcels in the Stadium Village area near the University of Minnesota’s East Bank Campus, The Opus Group has launched its development of Stadium Village Flats. The six-story building will contain 120 apartments on the five upper floors along with ground-floor retail and two levels of below-ground parking.

Preparations for the $30 million complex are slated to begin early next year and completion is expected to be August 2012. The project architect is Elness Swenson Graham Architects Inc., while structural engineering will be handled by Opus AE Group Inc.

CVS/pharmacy has committed to a portion of the complex’s ground-level retail, while an additional 5,000 square feet of retail is for lease. According to Opus Development Corp. senior vice president and general manager Dave Menke, the project’s location and amenities – including a fitness room, lounges on each floor and views of TCF Bank Stadium – will make it a success.

The Opus Group specializes in office, industrial, retail, residential living, institutional and government projects. It is based in Minneapolis.
