Old Dominion Prepares for Grand Opening of Whitehaven Service Center
Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is celebrating as it is preparing for the opening of their new Whitehaven service center on October 20th. The 267-door facility will provide direct service to western Tennessee – Memphis, Millington, Bartlett and Somerville – to east Arkansas – West Memphis, Wynne and Forrest City – and to northern Mississippi – Southaven, Olive Branch, Byhalia and Greenwood.

Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. is preparing for the opening of its new Whitehaven service center on Oct. 20th. The 267-door facility will provide direct service to western Tennessee–Memphis, Millington, Bartlett and Somerville–to east Arkansas–West Memphis, Wynne and Forrest City–and to northern Mississippi–Southaven, Olive Branch, Byhalia and Greenwood.
The company invested more than $30 million in developing the new facility. Due to record growth registered in the region in the past four years, Old Dominion is also planning on adding about 100 new jobs over the next two years.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate our 35th anniversary in Memphis with this state-of-the-art facility,” said Johnny Stricklin, manager of the Memphis Service Center. “As we continue to attract new customers in the region, we remain steadfast in our commitment and promise of delivering premium service to Old Dominion’s customers.”
The new facility is located at 2098 Spirit of ’76 Drive, and it is one of five service centers in Tennessee. The others are located in Chattanooga, Cookeville, Jackson-Dyersburg, Morristown and Nashville. The addition will serve Memphis well and vice versa, as Memphis is one of the company’s busiest freight hubs on account of its proximity to Interstate 40, Interstate 50, three major rail heads, the largest American cargo airport and the second largest inland port in the nation.
