New SouthPark Hotel Breaks Ground

Crosland LLC and Alta Financial Services recently announced the groundbreaking of a new hotel development project. The long-time collaborators partnered with Nashville-based developer Chartwell Hospitality on the new Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites Charlotte SouthPark.

First of its kind in SouthPark area since Hampton Inn & Suites at Phillips Place opened a hotel in 1998, the six-story dual-branded hotel features 270 guestrooms and will be operated by Chartwell Hospitality.

Located on a 3.65-acre parcel off Sharon Road, directly behind Sharon Corners Shopping Center, formerly the site of Old Towne Apartments, the hotel is expected to open in late 2016. The Hilton Garden Inn will include 160 rooms and the Homewood Suites will include 110 suites.

The new development will feature a classic traditional exterior carefully designed and customized to connect with the SouthPark area’s high-end design style. Hotel amenities include a bar and lounge, resort-style swimming pool, 3,200 square feet of meeting space, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a courtyard terrace as an open-air extension of the lobby.

“This project is a testament to the quality organizations of Allen Tate and Crosland,” said Charlotte City Council Member Kenny Smith. “The vision of these two organizations will help transform SouthPark for the next 50 years. I only wish Mr. Tate and Mr. Crosland could witness the next phase in this history as they were so instrumental 50 years ago when they invested in this submarket.”

Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites Charlotte SouthPark will be designed by high-end hotel architectural firm Rabun Architects of Atlanta. Crossland Construction is overseeing construction of the hotel and LandDesign will be in charge of civil engineering and landscape design.
