New Mid-Rise Apartment Community Comes to Adams Morgan

There’s a new apartment community rising in Washington, D.C.’s Adams Morgan neighborhood. Kettler, one of the region’s leading real estate developers, is building the project.

The new mid-rise community is currently known only as 2101 Champlain St. Once complete, it will be a five-story building with 132 studio, one- and two-bedroom units, and a number of amenities, including a landscaped interior garden, a roof deck, a fitness center, underground parking and an outdoor living room.

“The demand for quality rental housing in the District continues to grow,” Robert Kettler, chairman & CEO of Kettler, said in a statement. “This project will be the first new multifamily development to hit the submarket in several years, and we’re excited to introduce this sophisticated building design to the Adams Morgan community.”

R2L Architects has been hired as the project’s architect and interior designer. The one-bedroom apartments in the new development will be organized around a central feature with a kitchen, bathroom and laundry closet. By placing these elements in the center, the rest of the apartment is left for residents to use as they wish.

“The design layout of the apartment homes will offer a unique blend of contemporary, minimalist design and thoughtful apartment layouts that will enhance urban living, without the spatial compromise of micro-units,” Kettler added.

In addition to R2L Architects, the project’s development team includes SK&A Engineers as the structural engineer, Parker Rodriguez as landscape architect, LF Jennings as the general contractor and Bohler Engineering as civil engineer. Construction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016. Kettler did not reveal the cost of the project.
