Key International has completed the second phase of a $22 million renovation program of Marriott Stanton South Beach, a 224-room hotel in Miami Beach, Fla. The capital improvement project added a full-service spa, specialty fitness and training services, and an Azabu Japanese restaurant. Additionally, the property received a resort designation by Marriott International.

Located at 161 Ocean Drive, in Miami Beach’s South of Fifth district, the property was constructed in 2000. Key International completed the first phase of the repurposing and expansion project in January 2017, with the addition of Lolo’s Surf Cantina, a Mexican beachside eatery.

Specialized services

The second phase of the redevelopment added the 1,500-square-foot Stanton Spa, which includes three new treatment rooms. The enhanced fitness center provides specialized training programs such as functional fitness, movement specialist, boxing and yoga, while Azabu features an open kitchen, allowing guests to observe the chef’s Japanese cooking methods.

“Each purposefully appointed concept was intended to reach our goal of delivering an amenity-rich retreat that offers esteemed culinary experiences and premium fitness and wellness programs, all in a distinguished location,” stated Diego Ardid, co-president of Key International, in prepared remarks.

Following a complete upgrade as part of the renovation process, the street-accessible Starbucks is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2018. Last month, Key International paid $31.5 million for Hampton Inn & Suites Destin, a 130-key hotel in the coastline city of Destin, Fla.
