Melbourne Technology Center Scores LEED
The interactive facility opened in 2016 and has already garnered several environmental accomplishments.

Harris Corp.’s Global Innovation Center has been awarded LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The interactive technology showcase is located in Melbourne, Fla., adjacent to the company’s corporate headquarters.
The facility features a host of highly efficient fixtures and building characteristics that have allowed the property to receive the certification. Highlighted elements include optimized energy performance (35 percent better than standards), reflective roof installation to reduce solar heat and efficient water fixtures and irrigation (40 percent better than standards). Additionally, saving more than 50 percent of debris by construction waste reuse and management, reusing and recycling resources also scored well for Harris Corp.
The Harris Global Innovation Center is located at 1025 West NASA Blvd. in Melbourne, Fla. It features multimedia conference rooms, huddle spaces, an atrium café, exterior courtyards and 4,400 square feet of exhibits. Harris Corp. is a leader in tactical communications, geospatial systems and services, air traffic management and environment solutions.
“The LEED Silver certification underscores Harris’ commitment to sustainability by focusing on environmentally sound renovation and construction,” said Allison Montgomery, director of Environmental Health and Safety with Harris Corp. “Additionally, these conservation efforts enhance the efficiency of our operations and reduce costs,” Montgomery noted.
