Marriott Autograph Opens in Baton Rouge

The building hosting the revamped 144-key Watermark Baton Rouge hotel is the first skyscraper ever built in the city.

Baton Rouge, La.—Watermark Baton Rouge has opened its doors at 150 Third St. in Baton Rouge, La., according to The Advocate. The 144-key hotel, owned and developed by Wampold Co., underwent an eight-year renovation project of roughly $34.6 million.

The Watermark is part of the Autograph Collection, the independent brand of Marriott Hotels. The property features a plethora of amenities, including two restaurants, a fitness center and approximately 2,500 square feet of meeting space.

Completed in 1925, the building was initially the headquarters of Louisiana National Bank and the first skyscraper in Baton Rouge. The state acquired the property in 1960. Mike Wampold, CEO of Wampold Co. purchased the property from the state in 2014 for nearly $10.3 million.
