LSU Delays Groundbreaking for $12M Tiger Athletics Nutrition Center
Louisiana State University will not start work on its new Tiger Athletics Nutrition Center this spring. Joe Alleva, LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, has recently announced that the athletic department is going to delay breaking ground on the $12 million project until further notice.

Louisiana State University will not start work on its new Tiger Athletics Nutrition Center this spring.
Joe Alleva, LSU vice chancellor and director of Athletics, recently announced that the athletic department is going to delay breaking ground on the $12 million project until further notice.
Last year, the university announced its intention to begin construction on the new nutrition center by April 2015, with a completion date set for April 1, 2016. Plans call for the construction of a 22,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art complex, on the site of the old Alex Box Stadium. The Tiger Athletics Nutrition Center will include a large dining room, kitchen and lounge area. It will house full-time chefs and nutritionists, and will serve all LSU athletes.
In a statement, Alleva said that the university has raised funds for the new facility from private donations. However, it has decided to delay the project because of recently proposed state budget cuts to higher education. He added that the Tiger Athletic Nutrition Center project will become a reality, and that it has only been put on hold ”until we can gauge how the budget cuts will affect LSU.”
