Love’s Travel Stop & Country Store Acquires 11 Acres in Albuquerque for New Truck Stop
Family-owned Love’s Travel Stop & Country Store announced plans to expand in Albuquerque’s West Side by building a second, larger 24/7 truck stop at the Interstate 40 and Atrisco Vista Boulevard interchange. The company has purchased 11 acres of land near the Tempur-Pedic Mattresses facility.

Love’s Travel Stop & Country Store announced plans to expand in Albuquerque’s West Side by building a second, larger, 24/7 truck stop at the Interstate 40 and Atrisco Vista Boulevard interchange. The family-owned company has purchased 11 acres of land near the Tempur-Pedic Mattresses facility.
The seller of the land was Rio Grande Oil. The 11,000-sq.-ft. location will be three times bigger than Love’s existing 3,600-sq.-ft. travel stop that opened 30 years ago, reports Albuquerque Journal, and will create jobs for 40 to 50 employees. The total investment will be about $7.5 million.
The new truck stop will sell compressed natural gas (CNG) to motorists and truck drivers alike. “It’s a growing trend we’ve seen in the trucking industry,” Dorian said, noting CNG is currently selling for $1.99 a gallon. “We currently have 10 fast-fill CNG locations and have plans to open eight more, including the new Albuquerque location.”
A Carl’s Jr. restaurant, a gourmet coffee and drink fountain, gift merchandise and products for professional drivers will be made available on site. Furthermore, the store will feature 68 parking spaces for tractor trailers and showers for the drivers. “Our new location will also have a Love’s Truck Tire Care facility that offers tire and light mechanical services for professional drivers,” Dorian said.
Love’s Travel Stop & Country Store has more than 330 stores in 39 states, growing with approximately 20 locations from year to year. It employs around 10,000 people and generates more than $26 billion in annual revenue.
