Inland American Real Estate Trust, Inc. in a joint venture with Kessler Enterprises has announced the development of the 50-key Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston, the first luxury hotel to be developed in Charleston in 10 years. The boutique hotel, set to open in early 2015, will be affiliated with Marriott’s Autograph Collection, a brand known for its unique high-end hotels. The hotel marks The Kessler Collection’s debut in South Carolina. According to the Charleston Regional Business Journal, the hotel will cost between $25 million and $30 million and will create 100 new jobs.

Set to rise at the corner of Meeting and Wentworth Streets, the hotel will be located in Charleston’s Historic District, one of the most appreciated tourist attractions in the U.S. Guests will be within walking distance of famed historic landmarks, as well as high-quality dining and shopping. The property will boast amenities such as the 1,100-square foot Grand Bohemian Gallery – an onsite art gallery showcasing local, national and international artist, 3,000 square feet of meeting space, fitness center, luxury library lounge with business center and boardroom table, private dining room, wine blending and tasting room, rooftop restaurant and terrace with a regionally-sourced farm-to-table style menu and specialty coffee shop offering micro-roasted coffee.

The joint venture also announced the development of the Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook, a 100-key boutique hotel in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Mountain Brook. The combined investment for the two assets, set to be developed by Kessler Enterprises, is $68.5 million. Inland American will be the majority owner of the assets, while Kessler Collection Management will handle management under a 15-year term.

The Kessler Collection is a founding member of the Marriott Autograph Collection and holds ten unique boutique hotels featuring high-end accommodations and original, bold designs such as the Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, GA or the Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville in Asheville, NC. The company has announced plans to expand the brand in the US, in locations such as California’s Napa and Sonoma Counties.
